Withholding Lifesaving Treatment
Shame on your United Health Care! You are withholding lifesaving treatment because you don't want to pay $10,000 for it! Ridiculous! Plus, you weren't even going to let us know I was denied - we spent valuable weeks waiting on your response. If I do not survive, my blood will be on your greedy filthy hands. I hope you're overjoyed with your $10,000!
Difficult to Work With
They recently rejected a claim for a prescription my son takes and when I questioned the policy they said my firm changed my coverage. I called HR immediately and was told that that was untrue. United Healthcare lied to get my son to switch to a lesser drug which cost less. My doctor submitted a note and mysteriously the coverage was continued. The only change? They were found out. I am currently working on a claim that is from a November appointment requiring a full day battery of required tests. I only found out they wanted more information after they hadn\'t payed in 2 months. I got them their answer within 5 minutes. Suppose I hadn\'t called to check on the delay? Do you really think they would have contacted me? I got an appeal department fax number yesterday and 24 hours later the number is still not operational. The second fax number I was given today is not operational either. Are you kidding me? A major national insurance company having numerous representatives give out a number to customers that doesn\'t work? I called again today to speak with somebody in the appeals department to get a contact name or number or possibly a working fax number. The representative said there is no number for the appeals group just the fax numbers that font work.
Difficult to Deal With
United refused to cover a drug (Nexxium) prescribed by a Dr. for my husband few hours ago after surgery - and urgently needed; he\'s a cancer patient and it is needed for horrible side effects from chemo. United thought he should take something else instead and the something else doesn\'t do the same thing and is NOT the same thing per the Pharmacist. It is Friday night and they want a \"pre-auth\" done by the Dr. before covering it, so I just paid over $10 a pill to see him through the next few days while this gets sorted out, stating Monday.
UNITED HEALTH CARE
My 20 y/o son was diagnosed with Bulimia. United Heath Care does not think it is a serious enough issue to warrant a 5-day a week 6 hour program. They suggest that he should see a doctor 1-2 a week an hour each visit. It has been appealed 3 times and it keeps getting upheld by UHC (of course there is no outside appeals board). United Heath Care has refused to pay any of the $395.00 a day rate, which will have to be paid by me and of course i will pay it. I was one of the Officers of my company that help choose this new insurance company last year after they sold me a load of BS.
Illegally Started a Policy
United started a dental plan for us without our permission. They charged us 3 months and will not take the cost off of the records. They did take money from our Silver Sneakers account without our permission and applied it to the dental policy. I have been given multiple dates and broken promises about a correction that should take a few minutes.
They Pay Nothing
This insurance company is the worst. They pay nothing. Deductibles are high even with the lowest deductible.
No Options For Post-Knee Replacement Rehab
My friend just had knee replacement. Her choices for aftercare are to either pay $7,500 or go home alone without any care. She can\'t drive to physical therapy and lives alone in a multi-level house. She will not heal correctly without good aftercare!
Customers Are Undervalued
I have never had to fight on claims with any other health care in the past. Explanations change to fit their needs. Don\'t expect to be covered for anything. Preventative is all in the eye of the beholder to this company. I spend more time on the phone with them than anything.
Terrible Mail Pharmacy For Meds
They want you to use their pharmacy to fill your prescriptions and if you don\'t they hike up the prices so high that you have to either pay for it or do without. You cannot depend on the delivery of the meds to your house either. The postal system is always late, someone will steal your medications or it will come damaged.
OptumRX Specialty Pharmacy
UHC is forcing me to get my anti-rejection drugs via mail order instead of my local pharmacy. They are delivered via UPS and left out where they can be stolen and are exposed to the weather. These drugs cost UHC over $1,300 a month. I have to take them EVERY DAY to stay alive. What if they get lost or don\'t get to me on time? If my dose changes, I have to wait days to receive the correct dosage. I have contacted them on several occasions about my concerns and they don\'t care. They won\'t even give me a supervisor to speak with about it. This is causing me extreme unnecessary stress at a time where I already have health problems to deal with.
