Best I've had
After investigating several health insurance companies, I knew United American Insurance was the one for me. It has paid all my claims in a timely manner, and the I love the low deductible and no co-pay. I could not be happier, and wish everyone new how great their products are
My husband and I are self-employed and wanted coverage for accidents, emergencies, and surgeries. We repeatedly stressed-to the agent-that we were not so concerned with office visits and routine medical care, but wanted protection against financial disaster. In February, my husband had an appendectomy. One night in the hospital and his surgery totaled $22,000. United American barely paid 6,000. I now have a $17,000 bill. I called the company and they explained how this was just a "limited surgical policy". Our premiums were $1,005 per month and for what? We would have been better off to be uninsured and saved the $ 1,005 per month.
There is a difference between United American Insurance Company and United American Health Insurance. United American Insurance Company from Oklahoma is a very good outfit. My grandparents have had a supplemental policy for years with them and they do pay exactly what they say they will pay. It is a bit pricey, but with my grandmother being 94 it has more than paid for itself. Especially over the past 8 months with 3 extended visits to the hospital.
The United American we deal with is legit and well worth the money. Last year alone there was over $8,000 paid out by UA and the premiums for the year were $2800. Grandparents have been policy holders since 1988. So I would say read the fine print and also check with UA and see if the agent you are dealing with has a good track record with the company.
My husband is an independently contracted consultant and we knew we needed insurance in case of emergency. I had a visit to the ER because I'm pregnant and I was consistently running a 104 degree fever. While I was there, I had 3/4 extra strength Tylenol and a blood test to check my HCG levels. I was there for about 2 hours. The total cost for this was $1791. Regardless of the outrageous price of the things I needed, United American did not cover ANY of this. They denied the hospital. I just got another letter from a different hospital I visited a few weeks ago for blood tests and they told me that they couldn't even get United American to respond to them. They submitted both a claim and a follow up letter. I also had radiology work done and they covered $500 of $2000. The ONE thing I appreciate from them is the Pharmacy Discount plan, which usually cuts prescriptions down 35-50%.
They tell you that your covered for things you are not so you will sign up with them and they charge high premiums. I was diagnosed with breast cancer this year and they paid for a mastectomy but not any chemo treatments, any medications, any blood work or my other 3 surgeries that I have had to have. They told my husband that hospital stays were covered and when he ended up in the hospital for 5 days, they refused to pay. We are in so much debt, that the stress from the money we owe is killing us.

Has taken almost five weeks of promises from this person and that person that the refund is being taken care of.
Over priced for low benefits. Outrageous premium. Poor home office service.
I can't get them to respond to e-mails through their own system. My policy is due at the end of the month, but they debit my account usually around the 5th.
