The company started functioning in the year 1947 with just four employees in order to provide different kinds of coverage to individuals in Texas. Can I go to any doctor or hospital for treatment?
Yes. There is a provision for private insurance and guaranteed freedom of your choice. You are provided a chance to keep any doctor or specialist with whom you are comfortable, or you are allowed to choose any physician for any second opinion. There are no lists or the managed care programs place the managed care programs place restrictions.
Can premiums be taken directly from my bank account?
Yes, there is an automatic payment plan on all products that are convenient and are considered as a convenient and an efficient way to pay premiums.
Is it true that my claims come directly to you from Medicare?

Will you pay my providers directly?
If you are a UA Medicare Supplement policyholder you may subscribe to the "Automatic" Claims Filing® service, by which the payments are made directly to the providers who accept medicare assignment.
Does United American offer help on any prescription drugs?
Yes, there is help provided on the United American prescription drugs. There can be savings of 30% on the retail prescription of drugs and upto 45 % discount on the mail order prescriptions. There is another facility for those individuals who are enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B, as they become eligible for prescription drug coverage under Medicare Part D.

My Coverage Disappeared
I am self-employed and HAD health insurance with United American. I always paid on time. When I received my bank statement, I noticed that my check had not been cashed. I checked once a week at the bank for a couple of weeks and it still had not come through. I called United American this morning. They verified that the check had not been received and said that my policy had lapsed so there was no remedy.
A United American sales person came to my door. After hearing out his pitch, I decided to sign up for a policy. It turns out that there is no coverage for what he had stated and no coverage on the 2nd policy that was to cover the deductibles.
Slow and Unresponsive
I was approved for their insurance and a month later I have still not received my policy no insurance card.
I went through a long spell of unemployment and needed some type of insurance. They were cheap. I took their lowest coverage plan as I didn't think the others were worth the money. So far I have used it twice and they paid exactly what their plan said it covered. No hassles or surprises.
After paying $300 per month for a couple years, and never using the insurance, my wife was diagnosed with an illness that is going to require lots of treatments and doctors visits. However, I just found out that they do not pay 80% like promised. They pay 80% of the first $25. That's right, they will pay $20. Furthermore, they will pay no more than $250 ever for that illness.
Claim not paid in full
I have paid $10,000 in premiums over the last 2 years. When I had a $3,800 ER visit, they will only cover $300! I talked to a customer service person who told me they only cover this amount .
Poor Agent Experience
I had a rep drop by my house. I got health insurance for my 19 year old son. The policy sounded great with a great price, so I wrote him a check for $107 for my first premium. He said he would come by my house in 2 weeks for policies book, etc. Well it has been over 2 weeks. I called his cell phone number and his office number and could not get in touch. I got on the web site and found out that my bank info, etc was in my account. My next payment would be taken out in may. I called the number on the website and was told that my insurance was in effect. I told her I need insurance card and policy book. She told me I would have to get in touch with my agent. I told her have been trying for weeks. She said he would have to give me my card. I went to the bank and stopped future payments and emailed them i wanted to cancel.
Poor Customer Service
There is no follow through with help and getting questions answered. Policies or insurance cards have not been mailed out.
I have a health plan with United American and it works like it says it does. I have had to go to the ER once and it was paid for. I have been to the doctor several times and all I had to pay was $35. I have had 2 out patient surgeries and paid under $75. The insurance works and I have referred them many, many times.
I have paid United American Health Insurance over $25,000 in premiums in the last eight years. They have probably paid out a total of $1,000 in claims since 2003. I have never had health problems until recently and they will pay little to nothing on each of my claims. I would have done better if I had opened a savings account and paid for my health care from that.
