Excellent Service and Claim Experience
I have had one accident since I began using this company. It was my fault. The claim service worked well for me. I made one call and from then on the insurance company, the tow truck, the body shop, all called me to set up the details necessary for the repair. The body shop used by Response, called me EVERY DAY with status on the repair. The only pro-rated charge not covered was the tire that had to be replaced. I cannot imagine how they could have improved the repair experience.
Poor Claims Process Practices
I was hit by a customer of Response. They totaled the vehicle, but now won't return calls. They have not sent the money for my car and don't pay for rental. It has been almost three weeks.
I Picked a Cheap Policy
I had 100/300 coverage. A car backed into my truck and not only damaged my vehicle, but also caused injuries. Instead of this company paying for the damages and for the injuries which resulted in multiple surgeries, they made us jump through hoops and offered a settlement that doesn't even cover a third of the bills that have racked up. No wonder the cost of the policy was so cheap.
Response Insurance is a great deal until you need them. They would not pay on a claim made against my daughter because her father bought her a truck and the title is not in her (a minor's) name. They did NOT send anyone to investigate her collision, which is not her fault. They refuse to pay the claim made by the other party, refuse to investigate, return my calls, or deal with the situation. They have tried to back-date the policy and drop her vehicle without notification to cover their butts.
Worked For Me
I was stopped at a stop light when a car that was driven by an illegal alien hit me from behind. I took my car to a local shop that dealt with Response and they fixed it in about a week. All I had to pay when I picked up was the deductible. After 4 months, the insurance company that insured the other car finally settled and I got my deductible back.
I have had three accidents in which the other drivers were at fault and their insurance accepted responsibility and one accident where I was at fault. Response has been so great no matter if I was at fault or not. Reponse coordinated my repairs in all instances and arranged for reimbursement from the other parties.
Total Rather Than Repair
don't fall for their tricks. Customer service is really non-existant. If you reach a real person, they are programmed to promote low values in order to TOTAL a collision claim, pay you off and get rid of you.
After an accident, I was able to report it the same day at 11pm. The adjuster came to my vehicle at the shop within 36hrs, wrote a favorable and generous order. My car was done within a week and a half and Response overnight-ed a check so I could get the car the next day(at no cost). The agent also found out that I had rental car coverage that I was not aware of, and I was promptly reimbursed for rental expenses. For the last 25 years, I have always paid higher premiums for the so called advantage of having a local agent. We just changed to Response last year as our first experience with an offsite, centralized plan. I reported the claim to a very nice woman in Seattle, my agent was super in Connecticut, and the adjuster was a contracted local. I have NEVER gotten the prompt, quality service that I received with Response from any local agent. There was no fighting, arguing, or anything to this claim. It was just taken care of as soon as I reported it. And when renewal time rolled around, our premium increase was less than $100/yr for a 5K accident. Incredible! I will stay with this company forever!
Response is great until you have a large loss.
My car was stolen almost a month ago. My Response insurance claims examiner was less than helpful. She is familiar with how to process collision claims, but when it comes to a theft she is clueless. I had to do most of the leg work and calling around on her behalf to help the appraiser she hired to locate the lot they towed my car to. Every time I needed to speak to her, I would not receive a call back. I had difficulty getting her supervisor to call back and when she did it was obvious she didn't even listen to my message because she went rambling on about something that had nothing to do with the reason for my call. If that were not bad enough, my examiner told me she was going to call me right back to go over the pay off on my car since she completed her review but then she said she ran it by her supervisor and they have 30 days to "investigate". Investigate what? My car was found stripped and burned in another city. I have witnesses and financial information proving that I was where I said I was and I shouldn't even have to go that far to prove that I am trustworthy but I did it to cooperate. I have not had a clear answer from them as to what they need from me or what they are after in order to conclude the "investigation" on my claim. All these years never needing to use my response insurance and the one time I need it I get tossed around and B.S.'d. Good luck getting your car paid for if you have a nice car and it gets stolen. They will come up with any excuse not to pay and really make you feel like a victim by calling and interrogating your friends and family. I can't wait until this is all over but again, I get B.S'd around so who knows when that will be. Just thought I would pass along my bad experience. My friend and her mother that referred me are really embarrassed and are switching coverage to another carrier.
I recently was rear ended in what was considered "no-fault" accident. Response Insurance sent me a new premium. It was doubled! The claim they paid me was only $1,000. They originally told me the accident was not my fault since I was rear ended.
