Agent Accused Me of Being At FaultJul 15 2014
I had Progressive for about 10 years - no accidents, no tickets and I always paid my bill in full and on time. I was an ideal customer. For the first couple of years, my premium went up by $100-200 every 6 months for no reason (blame it on the economy I guess). Last year, someone hit my vehicle in a parking lot - it was 100% their fault and they admitted it. I got their insurance info and thought I'd do the right thing and contact Progressive and explain the situation in case the insurance co of the guilty party tried to blame me for the accident. The customer service rep at Progressive was extremely rude and condescending, he tried to get me to admit fault! After 10 minutes of being hassled and treated like I was total scum, he then told me it was my responsibility to contact the other insurance company. Having never been in an accident before, I wasn't aware of the proper procedure and instead of being helpful, the Progressive rep was downright mean to me. And to top it off, Progressive put an accident claim on my record even though it wasn't my fault and they didn't pay out a dime! 10 years of loyalty and this is how they treat customers...pathetic.
