High Costs For Poor Credit
After all the kids were gone, I was the only one left on the policy. I haveno tickets, no accidents (the kids had a couple of no-fault ones), and they keep raising my rates. I called to ask why and they said it was because of my credit rating? Their on line quote was 30.00 less a month than what I was paying.
I switched to a different company as I got a better deal on my two vehicles & Progressive wouldn't match it. I had been with them since the beginning; since I bought my first car. I had about 2 week left on the policy & thus was expecting a refund, but instead they tried to charge me a cancellation fee.
I signed on with progressive about three years ago. The company has always been easy to work with up until a couple of weeks ago. When I had my first accident the company was no longer so easy to work with. I am not responsible for the accident but I am certainly being treated like I am. I have called the company repeatedly to get the claims process underway but suddenly none of the employees know what to do and they hand me off to other employees that are equally clueless. No one seems to know what he or she is doing or what I should be doing to get this claim going. I am truly disgusted with the service I am getting from Progressive as of late and I am considering going to another company. It's a shame because the company's rates are pretty decent - but if I can't get the company to work on my claim the policy is pretty much useless to me.
Poor Claims Process Practices
I was hit by a progressive driver who, on the police report, has claimed all responsibility, but Progressive claims that the collision was partly my fault! They claim are that even though the driver was turning into a driveway in front of me, the fact that I saw his blinker and he was already on the shoulder of the road about six inches away from me, I should have stopped. I wound up in intensive care for five days hospitalized for another 10 then two months of rehab where I had to learn how to walk again. They are claiming that it was my fault!
My first quote was reasonable, however, the renewal was astronomical. That may have been because they failed to notify me in ANY way that my coverage was due and I had to pay late. Progressive's customer service is non-existent. I asked to be taken OFF paperless so that I would get some sort of notice in the future. What happened? I just got a letter in the mail today from the state. They warned me that my insurance was lacking and my license would soon be suspended.
I am very satisfied with everything. My truck got totaled about 2 years ago and they took care of me very quickly. I received my check in about 1 week. They paid for all of my towing fees and storage fees, plus I got the total blue book value for my truck. I was very happy that I did not have to fight with them to take care of my claim quickly.
Progressive left me and my family without help after an accident where we were rear-ended and the police found the other driver at fault. I could not believe that in this day and age, any company could do what they did to us. They denied all our medical claims and switched company personnel. We had to pay for everything out of pocket including buying a new car.
I have a clean driving record, with no accidents... with one exception. I was cited two years ago for failing to stop at a stop sign, a $70 ticket. When Progressive found out, they jacked up my rates by $25 extra per month.
Poor Customer Service
Someone crashed into my car and the other person was at fault. The other person's insurance was actually nicer to deal with and agreed to pay for all the damages. Progressive actually made me feel like it was my fault, treated me like crap, refused to fix what was damaged, and also blamed the dealership were I bought my car for a piece that was put on wrong.
