Low-Ball Total Loss EstimateNov 14 2011
we've had Met Life for over 5 years. We insure 2 homes, 3 cars, dental, life, and legal. We just made our FIRST auto claim and it was a disaster! Customer service is rude, ignorant, and gives wrong information! They won't call you back. I've been hung up on, fussed at, and ignored. Worst part is, they just sent a check for $3,100 for our 2001 Prius (they are selling for $6,000-$10,000 now), saying "this is how insurance works--It's not our responsibility to make sure you can afford to purchase a similar car". I've search a 100 mile radius and found NOTHING close to that value! They pointed out a car for $4,200 for sale 100 miles away, stating this is the comparable vehicle they used to value my car...but it has a BLOWN TRANSMISSION!!! It can't drive! Now HOW is that comparable to my perfectly WORKING car?
