MetLife has absolutely lousy customer service and practices. They took over the military dental program and somehow managed to make it worst.
Poor Service For New Customer
I was charged $50 more for the policy than I was quoted. There is a $4/month "processing fee" for each payment. I called my rep and his boss with questions, complaints, and received NO calls back. My insurance card was issued with two numbers of my VIN missing. Took the day off work to get car registered, but was unable to do so with invalid proof of insurance.
won't Cover, Claims Policy Was Cancelled
I was a Metlife customer for many years. My home foreclosed and I had to move. When I filed a loss claim Metlife said I had cancelled my policy with them BEFORE my move! I had called my agent specifically to see if I was covered for my move. I was told yes, I had coverage but when I filed a claim Metlife said I wasn't.
I was in a accident with one of their insured and they are dealing with me like I hit them. I have been playing phone tag with them to get the car looked at by an adjuster for about a week now and have made no progress. They slow and full of excuses.
I have my auto and home insurance with MetLife. I have never been treated better in my life. I saved around $800 when I changed and they provided much better coverage than I had previously. I have sent over all my friends and family to this agency.
I have been with MetLife since 2008 and filed my first claim last month. My agent took great care of me. I was also not out my entire deductible since I have been claim free.
Rely On Technicalities
They gave me no information and then the wrong information. The result is that now I'm going to have to foot the bill for my dentist, who, through some technicality, cannot bill MetLife. MetLife is now giving me the run around, even though I had called previously to check and double-check that the dentist was covered. Now, of course, MetLife wants to get out of it, and leave me with the bill. They take no responsibility, even though I shows on their own records I had called to check on the situation.
Met Life = FAIL
We have been denied a wind damage claim to our roof when a tornado touched down 2.5 miles from our home. Then we were denied a hidden damage claim due to ice damming on the backside of our home. Metlife is AWFUL! They have all but doubled our rates without explanation, and the first adjuster KICKED my dog!
Backwards Customer Service
Metlife is a huge company which should have efficient billing and customer service systems in place. Instead, when transferring automatic payments to a new bank account, they have been one of the hardest to move, with no option to set up the payment online, extremely limited customer service hours, and a requirement to complete a bloated form and mail it in with a voided check. What century is this? My dinky local utility company allows me to set up free automatic payments online at any time.
Great Home Insurance
I had my home damaged in a freak wind storm. They could not have been better to work with! My roof needed to be replaced. We had expenses for loss of use due to the power being out. They were quick to send out an adjuster and payed in a timely period.
