Bate and Switch

Jan 29, 2014 by Anonymous

My company closed and Metlife contacted me about portability of coverage after filling out the forms and a number of conversations with the company I was told I was set for preferred rate after receiving a billing and paying it I then received a letter saying one of their criteria was not meant so I would have to pay about triple the rate. They can call it what ever they want but it is a bate and switch program plain and simple

Sat on Medical Reimbrsement

They accepted liability for a major car accident then sat on my check for 6 weeks. I guess their lawyer didn\'t think I needed the money.

Override Physician and Deny

I have been dealing with an ongoing medical issue. They have found ways to deny my claim even though my personal physician feels it necessary for me not to work. Metlife has said that I don\'t have adequate reason not to work. I never thought I\'d see the day an insurance company can override my physician.

Overcharge, No Movement on Claim, Bad Service

I had my car broken into and the damages were almost $3000. They got an estimate for the damages but not for the product stolen from my vehicle and assumed the case was closed. They sent me $94 which did not cover the $2000 market stereo stolen from my vehicle. My adjuster never would call me back, she only spoke with the body shop repairing damages but not the shop installing and replacing the stereo. They were impossible to work with and seemed very uneducated on the situation. It was unacceptable and I immediately cancelled after this incident.

Metlife Injustice

I just found out that, contrary to stating that the claim would be paid 80% for in-network dentist, I was charged almost 50% for a dentist to fill four cavities for my daughter. When I called to protest, I was told that I "should have looked at the plan to understand that the different materials used to fill cavities would be different costs." Am I a dentist? If I had an appendectomy, would I choose the best substance to put me under, based on the amount charged by my medical insurance? It's nuts....

Terrible Customer Service

Aug 06, 2013 by Anonymous

I have had the worst service ever. I have to hold for 10-15 minutes each time and then have to give the complete information each time. Waiting now over four months for reimbursement of premiums once my life insurance claim was denied. Over and over with scripted conversations with ages
Nts. I could recite their speech I have heard it so much. If it was there money I am sure it would be direr rent. Not only did I complete a formal complaint with my state insurance commission. Very disappointed with the runaround. Losing my former wife was bad enough without this abuse. Shame
E on you Medlife or should I say no life.

Completly Incopetent

I have never heard of a claim taking this long! no special circumstances just a totaled out car. Took one month just to get someone to look at it. Sent me a claim estimate, but wont cut a check until I sent them a copy of the title. I've faxed it three times, and emailed it twice, but they claim never to receive it. If they are this incompetent i'm not going to send the hard copy until I have a check in hand out of fear they will loose it and deny the claim. Worst, most incompetent, customer service people I've ever dealt with; never return calls or answer calls it always goes to voice mail. I hope the other car involved in the accident didn't have to go through this too!

I have been very happy with MetLife in most aspects, I have recommended them to many and still do. They have paid numerous claims for me, I held my breath in 2008 when they paid a claim of over $55000. on a rental property for me. Then they paid a small claim of less than $10,000 on my home roof, but they continued to keep me. Then they paid a smoke claim for my home of over $16000, they kept me. So when they paid another claim for another rental property of over $6000, I held my breath, I am still a customer. With all the claims that I have had I am shocked that they did didn't cancel me. The only complaint that I do have is that they went up on all my policies, but, prior to that they were so reasonable I was wondering why, they were a lot more reasonable than State Farm. This past year or so they have gone up so much at one time on my personal home that I was blown away, 25% in one year. I called and they explained that one of the reasons was that I had lost my discount that my home was over 20 years old and that was why it had gone up so much. Mostly I can only praise this company, so when I see all the derogatory statements I have to wonder why, I have been very pleased.

We had a flood in our basement. It was sewage, not just regular water. Six months after paying for the damage, they dropped us.

Insurance USA , USA 4.6 127.0 134 134 MetLife Dental is essentially a glorified scam. You will get 2 cleanings (minus the fluoride which is not covered) and 1 yearly checkup. Everything less you will pay out of pocket,
