Poor Customer Service
They constantly stall paying claims by repeatedly asking for information that had been sent stapled to the original claim. They send reimbursements for bulk claims in a form that even they cannot explain to the recipient. The coverage is poor.
If you don't have MetLife, you should. It's the best darn insurance on the map!
Everything with this company is easy and fair. Everything went through fine, including a claim that I put in for my uncle. As long as you hold up your end of the bargain, they hold up theirs.
I recently switched employers and could not get any assistance with porting my coverage. I tried to call the phone number given on the paperwork and all it would do was ring and ring. I've been going for 3 months now and still have not insurance.
Poor Claims Process Practices
I doubt that they are going to pay any claims. They don't pay them for their dental program, instead they keep sending back asking for more and more information until you just give up.
My experience is different from the reviews I've been reading. It's a positive one. I have a local agent and the claims center is also a local team. I had my claim paid timely and calls were returned timely. I'm not sure where everyone also is located, but down in NC they are great! I became a customer because of how they handled my claim when I was a customer somewhere else. No complaints on my end.
We had switched to Metlife home & auto when we bought our house. Only three weeks after moving in, we had to make our first claim ever! There were no questions asked and we were given full reimbursement for all expenses without having our rates raised. Had to make a second claim 2 months later and it was exactly the same.
Peace of mind NEVER guranteed
Their customer service isn't friendly or knowledgeable. Their mail and phone customer service don't go hand in hand. If you complain in mail, never phone them for any clarification and vice versa.
Great Claim Procedure
I have to say that I have had a great experience with Metlife. I had to make a claim for a rear window breaking. I told them that I wanted to take it to a specific dealer. They got the info and sent it over the dealer. I dropped the truck off and 2 days later, I was called to pick it up.
Paid Me In Gift Cards
I had a house fire this year. Adjuster handed out money in forms of Home Depot Gift cards, about 30%. No Home Depot in the immediate area. Have to drive over 40 miles one way. At least I was able to buy appliances from those gift cards and had them deliver them. Still a mess, trying to coordinate a company 40 miles a way and a move in date with the repair people. Called other insurance companies in the area, even an agent who sold MetLife (but not in a while) had not heard of this Home Depot connection.
