Metlife Dental

MetLife Dental is essentially a glorified scam. You will get 2 cleanings (minus the fluoride which is not covered) and 1 yearly checkup. Everything less you will pay out of pocket, bad news if you actually require dental work. One of their favorite tricks to tell your dentist the amount they will cover and after the work is complete deem the dental work as not being required or cosmetic by their internal reviewing dentists so they don't have to pay for it. After reporting MetLife Dental to the Maryland Department of the Attorney General for failure to pay even a reasonable portion of a very large claim they magically found they made a $900.00 claim error. Avoid at all costs, you will pay 90% of all charges.

Incompetent, Reckless, Unaccountable

STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM METLIFE INSURANCE! While their customer service workers are very polite, the company is the most incompetent, reckless, and unaccountable with which I have ever dealt! This especially goes out to my Commonwealth employed friends and contacts. It took them over one year to realize they were incorrectly billing Commonwealth employees and now want those same customers to pay the difference. If you have an account with MetLife, you better start keeping the books. You cannot rely on them for anything.

About to Be Homeless

Aug 05, 2014 by Anonymous

Metlife caused delays to get my house rebuilt after a fire (total loss). I had in my policy housing allowance to live until my house is rebuilt. Metlife is now cutting off the housing allowance before the house is rebuilt and my family will be homeless in a few weeks.

Very Expensive

I am a single male with a clean MVR, no accidents or tickets. They were charging me $126 bi-weekly! Come to find out they had placed my girlfriend on my policy without my knowing. Since we lived together they refused to remove her from the policy saying that she \"could possibly\" drive my vehicle. I also later learned that they, for some reason, were linking my sister-in-laws driving record with my policy. By far, the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. They could use some tips on business ethics.

Nothing is Covered

Apr 23, 2014 by Anonymous

If you have Metlife Dental as your secondary insurer, they will not cover anything. Totally true, I just got off the phone with a rep who explained that Metlife will only cover what your primary covered, except your primary already covered it, so Metlife doesn\'t. The only case in which they might pay something would be if you exceeded the allowable number of procedures in a year. So if your primary will cover 50% of your $1000 procedure, Metlife will not pay ANY of the remaining $500.

Run Around for Life Insurance Payout

Feb 17, 2014 by Anonymous

I have really had it with the "Snoopy" Company MetLife.
My brother died on Thanksgiving last year and here it is Feb 17, 2014 and
MetLife still seems unable to get the life insurance payment to his widow who was left with two year old twins and a 10 year!
My sister in law called MetLife the day after her husband died and the MetLife rep kept her dangling for ONE MONTH before she ever informed her that she was not the beneficiary!! One Month!!! Finally, my sister in law found out the beneficiary was still our mother and my sister in law emailed the pdf file to fill in and submit. That was in mid January. I called 6 Feb to ask where the check was. Can you believe it they said they didn't know!!! Can you just hear the Peanut cartoon voices that represent adults talking "blah blah blah blah". Yeah, that is what my interactions with MetLife have been like. I called today and they don't know where the second check they sent is! I told them to open up their big money coffers and pay for overnighting the check. What idiots they have "working" for them. I am warning everyone to steer clear of this Snoopy dog company. Maybe it costs way to much to pay Charles Schultz's estate for the Peanuts rights? Well, I have two year olds that need shoes and food and MetLife better get their act together. I warned the "customer SERVICE rep" today I was going to do a public media blitz. He acted blase about the whole thing. Hey, MetLife, your company will go to the dogs with "service" like this.

I chose Metlife auto through my work. It started at 60.00 every payday. It is now 87.00 every 2 weeks. I have had no accidents. I drive a 2004 car. I drive 5 miles a day. Others at work insure 2 and 3 vehicles for this amount. I am filing a complaint with State Insurance Department for overcharging.
