Their driver hit me while turning right from the straight lane at a light. Even with a police report, they claim that it is not their driver\'s fault. This after I had to call everyday for over a week. They do not return phone calls. I think they hope that you will get frustrated, go away, and use your own insurance company.
Difficult to Get a Hold Of
The Hanover Insurance Group had never contacted me following this accident. I made a number of attempts to contact them by leaving voice mail messages and online contact to no avail. When I finally made contact with them, their representative said that “they tried to contact me and sent letters out to my address.” I was upset with their false claim. I informed him that my phone number is listed in the phone book, additionally the police report lists my Insurance Company Amica and my policy #. If they really wanted to contact me it wouldn’t be that difficult. Their appraiser inspected my vehicle on 11/13/2012 and left me a copy of what he wrote. He informed me that he didn’t know if Hanover was accepting liability and he would talk to his manager and call me back. When he called me back he said that they would agree to pay 50% of the damage estimate, because there are conflicting stories. I stated that the police report clearly states that that other driver was found at fault and issued a verbal warning for improper passing. When I saw there was no changing his mine, I told him I would pursue legal action for my damages.
don't Believe Own Customer
My parked car was hit one night and the driver left no note. When I contacted Hanover, I described the damage done to my car. However, when my car was taken to the mechanics the mechanic noticed even more damage on my car, which I had no clue about. Hanover then blamed me for this damage and refused to cover the damage that I had not originally reported. How am I supposed to know everything about cars - the mechanic only found the additional damage after taking the front tires off. Now they are trying to get out of paying for the rental car I had to use even though they said they would cover up to 30 days of rental car usage.
Claims Not Covered
don't expect to file a claim with this company and have it covered or if they do cover it - the only way you will win is to hire an attorney on your behalf! Customer service are a bunch of kids who don't know or care what they're doing!
Lost Payment, Cancelled My Policy
Paid my bill on time, used the statement coupon, wrote my account number on the check, and mailed it over a week before it was due. Months later I get a notice of non-payment and cancellation. I called and was told it was a computer error and they would fix it, all set. Two weeks later I got another notice of cancellation for non-payment. I called again, and was told that it was a computer error and it will take a week to put in the request to fix it. But, they will cancel my insurance within a week and notify the authorities. They have had my payment for almost 1 1/2 months, I have the cancelled checks as proof. Poor service, they don't seem to care about a good long term customer.
This company insures someone who was making a left turn and hit my car. The driver says our light was red, but we were in the middle of the intersection, half way through, when he hit us. Everyone knows when you're making a left you must yield the right of way if the car coming is close enough to where you're going to hit it. Hanover wants us to settle at 50%.
Getting The Run Around Over $700
I never needed to use insurance until accident last year. It's been 4 months and I'm still getting runaround over $700. I figure that I've paid them at least $20,000 over the years. Claims service is TOTAL JOKE!
Denied My Claim
Three roofers all said I had hail damage resulting in a leaking roof. The Hanover senior adjuster assigned to my claim denied it.
I had an amazingly positive experience after my car totaled. Every Hanover person I spoke to was helpful. The first person I reached set up everything including my rental car... all during the first phone call. The claim was handled in one day and the settlement seemed very fair based on our own research. The medical claims adjuster has also been available, very clear on what is covered, and generally helpful. The adjuster for the car went beyond what he needed to do to help.
Slow Claim Processing
Their insured was at fault in an accident I was in and Hanovers claims representative kept giving me the excuse that he was "waiting for witness statements". My insurance was able to speak with all the witnesses in 1 day and Hanover was still "trying to contact witnesses" 10 days later.
