Deductible High, Little Coverage

Nov 01, 2013 by Anonymous

Golden Rule just recently raised our rates 97%. They cover very little of anything that would be useful for day to day medical problems and require a high deductible for rates to be anywhere near affordable. Their insurance really is only good for anything catstrophic, which is were many health insurers now keep their coverages. They are a profitable company which is built on high rates piled on the backs of healthy consumers buying their product. Do not recommend them.

High Deductible

You will never be able to meet your deductible unless 2 of the members of your family pay the deductible at the same time (same year). For example: if you are severely injured and pay well over your deductible you will still not be covered, because another member of your family has to meet his/her deductible, too!!?? Basically unless you and another member of your family are injured at the same time and fully pay the entire amount of the deductible together, no one is covered... Golden Rule policy is very tricky and It's not clearly stated anywhere. I was lucky to find out that by asking them a lot of questions at the time of my application was submitted.

Expensive, but Good

Never denied or even questioned a claim (I had several $1000+ claims, largest was $5,000 ER visit) Covers up to $2,000 in chiropractic care (most others limit you to visits or $500/yr) EXCELLENT negotiated rates (very cheap) with doctors (which lowers patient cost before deductible is met) Large network of doctors & specialists in my area
