I was planning to get a new policy with eSurance. but customer care was so rude in answering my questions. They were talking as they are selling the policy for free. But the weird thing in their policy was to add my roomates names under my policy if they don't have insurance though they are not using my car. This sounds like if you have 5 people in your house and they don't have insurance eSurance wants to add them into your policy though they are not using your car.

Esurance has been there for me with their Roadside Assistance every time. They are polite and take care of your needs very quickly. I have not had any claims, but when I speak with an agent about my policy, everything is taken care of very well. I can't say enough about Esurance.

We had Esurance for 5 years and were happy. Then they got bought by Allstate (another company we had previously that we were not happy with) and someone sideswiped us. We filed a claim and explained what happened and they said it was OUR FAULT. Then the cop sent us a ticket based on their judgement.

I had Esurance for 6 years and no problem... until they switched to Allstate. My full coverage was $85/month. Then it went to $212. I canceled by policy because of the increase and also because they gave me less than seven days notice of this change. They changed the amount due within a current policy and sent out a higher renewal notice. I would have stayed with them for the convince. However, I do not like that the just changed my next month payment without proper notice. The rep insisted that my notice was the renewal, which didn't take into effect until two payments later.

I'm another case of Esurance receiving phantom information and attempting to force me to change the garage address of the vehicle that I insure with them. In my case it was to an address at which I've never actually lived in an entirely different state. After a short battle during which I found that no document would satisfy them, I decided that it just wasn't worth the hassle, particularly when I could simply walk into any insurance office and have a new policy in less than 15 minutes.

I hit a massive pothole while driving to work on day. When my car hit the ground I noticed my steering was off. I submitted a claim with Esurance, because I wasn't sure of the extent of the damage. It took them a week to send an appraiser. They guy they sent was personable. He took pics inside and out of the car and right there on the spot declares my car a total loss. He said my car is in fair condition due to existing damage. He urged me to file a claim for the existing damage so I'd get something back because he knew I was going to be hosed on the total loss determination. I do as he suggested. The damage happened a month prior from a hit and run at the mall. Everything is going fine until this morning they call me and state that they're not paying a claim on a totaled car. I explain that their thinking is circular. Had it not been for the hit and run damage, my car wouldn't have been deemed a total loss. Prior to the hit and run my car had a few minor dents, but nothing to the amount that it would have been a total loss. I am beyond upset about this. My classic car went from a possible 5400 KBB value to a $400 offer from Esurance. It would have been $200 higher, but I'm retaining the salvage.


$250 for 2 Weeks of Insurance!

I got insurance through Esurance. My premium was $130, but I had to put down $250 to start my policy. Two weeks later, I got a new car and found cheaper insurance somewhere else, so I cancelled Esurance. Even though it was only two weeks later, Esurance told me I can't have a refund of my $250 or any part of it because I have already used up all my premium (in 2 weeks?) and there is a $50 cancellation fee. All this was AFTER threatening to cancel our policy because they say we 'lied' to them about our previous coverage.

I had Esurance for 5 years and never had an accident. I moved to a different state and paid to switch the information on Esurance. I was pleasantly surprised at a lower rate in new state. A month later I get an email from Esurance stating that my garaging address is still in the other more expensive state and they would charge me retroactively. I call to clear this up only to be on hold forever and then get the 5th degree. They had names attached to me that I had never heard of and refused to tell me where they got their information from. They wanted to attach these names to my policy. I checked my credit report to make sure there was no identity theft. It was if they pulled the names out of a hat. My phone bill and pay stub were not enough proof of my garaging address. They then demanded my bank statements with 30 days of transactions to see what state I spend my money in. I cancelled the policy and got insurance elsewhere. Being treated with respect and knowing that if you file a claim you won't be treated like a criminal, is worth a higher premium. I walk away very suspicious of this company and their means of obtaining information.
