Gary Lauer has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since December 1999 and as Chairman of the Board of Directors since March 2002. Since Mr. Lauer joined the company, eHealth has become the leading online source of health insurance for individuals, families, and small businesses. Prior to joining eHealth, Mr. Lauer was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MetaCreations Corporation. Prior to MetaCreations, Mr. Lauer spent more than nine years at Silicon Graphics, Inc. where he was part of a senior executive team that grew Silicon Graphics from approximately $100 million to $3.5 billion in revenue. Mr. Lauer started his career with IBM, where he held a variety of sales and marketing management positions. Mr. Lauer holds a B.S. degree in finance and marketing from the University of Southern California Business School.Robert L. Fahlman, Senior Vice President, Carrier Relations and Chief Operating Officer.
Robert Fahlman has served as Senior Vice President, Carrier Relations and Chief Operating Officer since March 2000. Mr. Fahlman previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Omni Health Care, a California health plan and health insurance company. Prior to Omni Health Care, Mr. Fahlman was Vice President, Field Operations at Healtheon Corporation, a healthcare Internet company now known as WebMD. Previously, Mr. Fahlman was Vice President at FHP and Senior Vice President at TakeCare Health Plan, two California managed healthcare plans. Early in his career, Mr. Fahlman was with Procter & Gamble in its Surgical Products Division. Mr. Fahlman holds a B.S. degree in business administration from Portland State University.
Sam Gibbs, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Small Business.
Sam Gibbs has served as Senior Vice President since September 2000. Since November 2004, Mr. Gibbs has served as General Manager of the company’s small business products and services business. Mr. Gibbs previously served as the General Manager of eHealth’s technology licensing business and as General Manager of product management. Before that, Mr. Gibbs was a Vice President and General Manager for Rand Worldwide, an engineering services company. Prior to Rand, Mr. Gibbs was founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of AVCOM Systems, Inc., an engineering services and systems integration company. Under Mr. Gibbs’ leadership, AVCOM grew to a $100 million enterprise before being acquired by Rand in 1997. Mr. Gibbs has also held engineering positions at Raytheon Aircraft and TRW Space Systems. Mr. Gibbs holds a B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering technology from Arizona State University.
Stuart M. Huizinga, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Stuart Huizinga has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since May 2000. Previously, Mr. Huizinga was a partner at Arthur Andersen LLP in the firm’s Audit Business Unit. Mr. Huizinga brings more than 15 years of financial experience in the technology sector, having serviced clients of Arthur Andersen’s Silicon Valley office from 1984 to 2000. Mr. Huizinga served as a worldwide expert within the firm’s technology practice, primarily in the software and Internet sectors. Mr. Huizinga received a B.S. degree in business administration from San Jose State University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of California.
Robert S. Hurley, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives.
Robert Hurley has served as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives since April 1999. Originally recruited to build the sales and sales-support functions, Mr. Hurley’s responsibilities now include health savings accounts and public and government relations. Mr. Hurley has more than 16 years of experience and leadership in the health insurance industry. Prior to joining eHealth, Mr. Hurley served as Associate Vice President of Sales and Operations for the consumer business segment at Health Net, Inc., a managed health care company. At Health Net, Mr. Hurley directed all aspects of the consumer business segment, including product development, sales and marketing, sales support functions and broker relations and was instrumental in leading the development of the first generation of Web-based solutions for the unit. Mr. Hurley holds a B.A. degree in law and society from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Bruce Telkamp, Senior Vice President, Business Development, General Counsel and Secretary.
Bruce Telkamp has served as Senior Vice President, Business Development since February 2004 and as General Counsel and Secretary since May 2000. Prior to joining eHealth, Mr. Telkamp was the Vice President of Business Development and General Counsel of MetaCreations Corporation. Prior to MetaCreations, Mr. Telkamp was an attorney with the leading technology law firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, California. Mr. Telkamp holds a J.D. degree from the University of California, Hastings and a B.A. degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles. Mr. Telkamp is a member of the California Bar.
Dr. Sheldon X. Wang, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer.
Dr. Sheldon Wang has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer since August 1999. Dr. Wang also serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the company’s subsidiary, eHealth China, Inc. Previously, Dr. Wang was Senior Vice President of Research and Development at Eclipsys Corporation, formerly HealthVISION, a provider of integrated healthcare enterprise information-technology solutions. At Eclipsys Dr. Wang managed research and development for 25 product lines, with an organization of 300 engineers. Before joining Eclipsys in 1995, Dr. Wang served as Director of Advanced Technology of Ameritech Health Connections. Prior to Ameritech, Dr. Wang was an executive at Emtek Health Care Systems. Dr. Wang holds a Ph.D. in medical informatics from the University of Utah, an M.S. degree in physics from Idaho State University and a B.S. degree in physics from the Fuzhou University of China.
