I lost coverage because their online payment system failed to show them my payment until 8 days after I made payment, ON-TIME. Now they won't honor a prescription claim for $150 because they stalled in initially activating my insurance. Cigna customer service told me to pay full price and send in for reimbursement later. After 2 reimbursement denials for different reasons, they still continue to make excuses. It's been over 3 months.
My husband's world wide company uses Cigna for health coverage and their flexible benefits. They have had our flexible spending account messed up for the entire year. We are not receiving our co-pay reimbursements. I have been given every answer imaginable; my funds are exhausted, I can only draw on actual available funds, our computer doesn't work, you need to send each receipt in manually, etc. They even called me a few days ago to tell me that they are working on my account, but have no answers. I have been actively addressing this since July and now It's mid October. We have paid nearly $2,000 out of pocket that should be reimbursed, but it hasn't. Our dental plan with them also rejected a crown which cost us $1,195, in addition our flexible spending acct hasn't paid us back either and we have over $2,000 of our money sitting in the account. I have talked to at least 5 different people including our broker who cannot even get a solution for me.
Would Rather Pay Out-Of-Pocket
No co-pays go toward your deductible. I am on advair monthly and I had a coupon to get my first prescription free. Keep in mind, you have to have insurance to even use this coupon. Guess what? Cigna won't let you use it! They insist you pay the co-pay (mine is $40) therefore I couldn't get my medicine. I can't afford all the co-pays every month for the doctor and the prescriptions. I would rather just pocket all my money and pay as needed. It doesn't do me any good to have it!
Short Term Disability Disaster
My employer pays for this benefit, thank goodness it isn't my money because it is not worth it! I have been off work and have had to deal with CIGNA. Nothing happens with my claim unless I call them. At one time they had a "return to work" specialist send me a letter claiming she had tried to call me several times and was unable to leave me a message. That was BS because several calls to her giving her my correct phone number that has an answering machine were never returned. After contacting my employer and having my employer talk to CIGNA management my claim manager called me to apologize and assure me that the return to work specialist was dealt with. I didn't get another one. I have been chased in circles by CIGNA. I'm always being told "they are waiting for more info from my doctor" when ever I call to ask what the hold up is. My claim status says I should receive checks weekly. I have not seen one since the beginning of MAY!
No Coverage with Orthonet
CIGNA contracts with Orthonet for physical therapy. It is a wonderful game they play, one does not know what the other one is doing so no one is responsible. don't count on getting any of the physical therapy care that you need.
won't Cover Hospital Stay
I have been in the hospital for 5 days because of a possible heart attack. Their doctor deemed the last 2 days medically unnecessary. Guess I should have called them while I was having a heart catheter done.
Frustrating Phone Calls
I have never had any problems with an insurance company until now. I am so sick of their excuse, after excuse, after excuse. I have been told many times that my surgery for wisdom teeth would be covered and now four months later, they give more excuses that it wasn't filed right.
Never Wants to Pay Out
Like everyone else in America that gets insurance through the place they work, I had no choice in terms of what company I was covered with. If I had a choice I wouldn't choose Cigna Insurance that, unfortunately is exactly what I have. While my co-pays are quite reasonable, all things considered, the company never wants to pay out on anything and comes up with silly excuses for not paying. Sometimes it takes up to ten months to get something paid for and Cigna Insurance will debate every issue imaginable - if there's a way out of paying they are seemingly going to find it. Sometimes I think it would just be easier for me to pay the bills myself but seeing that I can't really afford to do that, I guess I am pretty much stuck dealing with a hassle every time I have a bill submitted to the company. I should charge Cigna for all the time they make me waste!
Poor Customer Service
Their customer service is very unprofessional.
I was laid-off and had to go back to Cigna, the only option my husband has. I have never seen a company with so many deductible rules, co-pay rules, hospital rules and out of pocket this and that's. I even chose one of the better options.
