Great Medical Coverage
Cigna Health Insurance is the best. I am a member of the CIGNA Preferred Provider Organization so I can visit any doctor that accepts Cigna Insurance. No referrals, no fuss, no muss. Under the plan I get basic medical coverage and specialty coverage too. If there's an emergency, I know that I am covered. I think the company gives me more power than other healthcare insurance providers allow. There are no problems when working with this carrier. All of my needs are taken care of; there's no foolishness when it comes to this company. The website for Cigna is amazing, allowing me to get medical cards by filing right online, download member forms of all kinds and I can even change my coverage with ease. If I need to find a doctor, Cigna gives me a chance to find with a simple directory listing of all the physicians in my area that accept Cigna insurance coverage.
They constantly send me erroneous letters telling me I did something wrong, just to find out that they did. They keep coming up with ways of delaying payments to the doctors I have been using. They are very erratic. They sent me checks in the mail because I had separate insurance from theirs and my primary (Medicare) saved them money. Yet they refused to pay the going rate for the doctors services.
My wife purchased disability insurance from her employer. She became ill and no one could give her a diagnosis. That's when it all began. She was told that since no one could diagnosis her, they would not pay. After being out of work for seven months, with no income what so ever, she was still denied payment of benefits .Even though she was eventually diagnosed with Lupus two months before her last rejection of disability benefits. Cigna insurance owes my wife $6,000 and refuses to pay.
While Cigna has for the most part lived up to our contract, I have found that they make frequent "mistakes" that are in their favor financially! Then each time It's taken them 3 weeks to process the correction to the claim. In addition, their PT benefits stink. They will pay $30 for each of 24 sessions per year.
Long Term Disability Disaster
I recieved a permanently diagnosed peripheral neuropathy (lost 85% of the nerve endings in both feet). Cigna was supposed to pay me 60% of my base income until I turned 65. The crooks stopped paying me after only 18 months and they owe me almost 800k. I withdrew all of my 401k to pay off my house when all of this first took place then I had to withdraw all of my retirement to have something to live on. I am down to the last 12k of my retirement and behind on my property taxes and most likely will lose my paid off house.
My husband has paid them for 18 years. He has 4 debilitating diseases and they cancelled his LTD after 6 short months without notifying him that he was under review or even giving us a courtesy phone call to say we would no longer receive benefits.
