I have had my Car Insurance, Home Insurance, and Boat Insurance all with American Family and have always received great service. I have tried others and American Family is by far the best when it comes to handling claims. don't be fooled the other options are far worse. My experience with the American Family Insurance company has always been positive and has came highly recommended from many people.

low estimate on damages
We had a major hail storm and the adjusters price is thousands of dollars under the estimate to fix. I guess paying all those premiums for years with no claims just means you get screwed harder.
I personally think some people aren't listening when there agent explains coverages They make you sign a form when you reject flood insurance and when something happens that is caused from an occurrence no insurance will cover it. Uninsured motorist covers you when someone hits you and they don't have insurance or enough insurance remember you cant have more uninsured motorist coverage then liability coverage.

People with low credit scores have more claims. That's a indisputable fact. I've been an American Family Agent for 3 years now and I can tell you that every claim adjuster I have dealt with has been fair. AMFAM is a good company.

Poor Credit Score
Raising our rates after twenty years with American Family Insurance. We have had two small claims over the years and they were over eight years ago! What does my credit rating have to do with my cost of my home and auto insurance? We were informed that due to our credit rating our rates would almost double.
I ran a green light
I was turning left at a green left arrow after it had changed. I was the first car in line and had waited at least a couple of seconds before turning so that I had time to check the intersection. Another car was turning right, but had stopped and was waiting for me. When I was about half-way through the intersection I realized that a car in the lane coming towards me was not stopping. I hit the brakes, but it was too late. I was hit in the passenger side, just in front of the front tire. The bumper looks to have shifted approximately 8-9 inches towards the driver's side. The hood was able to open, albeit a bit stiff. The driver of the other car estimated he was going 40-45 miles per hour when he hit me. American Family sends a letter that I ran a green light and their insured ran a yellow light. The Police Report their insured says "Its my fault, I ran a red light." American Family was told in arbitration that they owe me for 100% of the claim. They still haven't paid nor will they return my phone calls.

We have been with Amfam for years, and I have never had any issue with getting valid claims paid. I feel like they have my back, and I appreciate that. I have read other reviews out here, and many are blatant ignorance on the part of the consumer. For example, your car isn't worth what you owe? You can buy stop gap coverage for that, and if you didn't, not your insurance company's fault, it is yours. Your credit is bad? You are statistically proven to be more likely to have big, and frequent claims, and I don't want to carry your burden, you should pay more, not me. Let your coverage lapse, and think it is not your own fault? Really, does the light company call you to see if you might pay? Have a flood and think insurance covers it? Did you ever read the contract you signed? It is really easy to point the finger at others when you aren't responsible for your own destiny. Personally, when I have questions, I call my agent, and make sure I understand what I am buying.
I had a bad experience with American Family and there was a total lack of communication with my agent. I was a good customer and had referred numerous clients of mine to my agent. I was turned into the DMV for a lapse of coverage (2 weeks) and was not given a courtesy call by anyone from American Family Insurance. I was never able to talk directly to my agent she was always too busy. This is ridiculous and the main reason I cancelled.
