About 3 weeks ago I received a general quote in the mail from an Allstate agent which quoted me a homeowners insurance premium of $258.72. I thought that it sounded good. It was so much cheaper than what I had through another company. I the agent and proceeded to give him all the information that his system required to give back an accurate premium quote based upon specifics of the our house and neighborhood. The agent put this information into the Allstate system and over a day later he calls me back, at which point he sates that our premium will actually be between $210 and $213. I accept the policy at the rate he stated and proceeded to give him all my banking information and social security numbers to sign for the policy over the phone. The following week I get a printout of our policy and find that the agent actually sold us a policy with a premium of $433.81, over TWICE the amount he said it would be. I complained to Allstate's corporate office and was told that the policy we received on paper is the actual premium.
