Aetna-"Home of the 5-day fax"
I went out on short term disability and sent Aetna the paperwork. Out of all the millions of pieces of mail going thou the Post Office, mine to Aetna was lost. So I faxed copies of the paperwork to them. Still no check. Now waiting for someone to call me back from Aetna. My employer (who holds this worthless policy) has had no better luck with them than I have.
I got a quote for Aetna through Esurance that seemed to be a perfect fit, but when I went to to Aetna's website to compare the quote the website was so hard to navigate that not only could I not get it to give me a quote, but there was no way I could see to contact the company to get help.
Difficult Customer Service
I took out a health insurance policy for my son when he turned 23 and was released from our family policy. First they doubled the premium without telling us because he has ADHD, even though he never sees the doctor. He just takes medicine during school. Then they denied all of his claims because they said they did not have any information proving that he had prior insurance. Once this information was provided, claims were still getting denied for this same reason. I had to call customer service every time and tell them that they had the information and to please pay the claims. They would pay one claim and then the next would be denied.
we've been very pleased with Aetna HMO's in-network doctors and hospitals. I have not had any major health issues, so I see my primary care doctor only once a year for a checkup. I do not have any prescription medicines. Since 2002, my husband has had 5 surgery / emergency conditions and each event required 3 days in the hospital with many tests and occasionally specialists. We never had a problem with any of our doctors getting paid by Aetna. The hospitals and doctors submitted the info directly to Aetna and we did not have to be involved. But since 2002, our premiums have gone up 540%.
Aetna Just plain AWFUL
Poor customer service, claims experiences, and website. Absolutely a giant hassle and pain every time a claim goes through. I will venture to guess that about 75% of my claims are not processed correctly, and I have to fight to correct them. 50% of those are never corrected, and I am left paying the difference.
Beware of Aetna
They seem to play the typical game of denying claims, making you complain to them, and then admitting they made a mistake in denying the claim.
Less Coverage. More Payments.
Some of the prescription drugs that we have been on for about 10 years are no longer covered. The cost of this insurance has jumped by $140/month and the deductible has increased. The co-pay has also increased.
They have horrible customer service. They have absolutely NO coverage and make you pay with all these stupid fine prints in their policy.
In efforts to cuts costs, my employer forced us all into Aetna. It has been an awful switch. They don't cover anything. You continually have to fight with them to get them to pay for legitimate claims. My doctor, pharmacist, pretty much anyone we deal with despises dealing with them. On top of this, they are increasing rates like crazy.
Recently, my son was injured at his grandpa's house. Aetna hired a private subrogation company and attempted to sue my dad.
