21st Century Insurance Story
The founder of 21st Century Insurance was Louis W.Foster, who founded the company in the year 1958, with the help of his experience of 20 years as an independent agent. An inter-insurance exchange is quite similar to a cooperative, where most of the policyholders try to insure the losses of the other policyholders. It was in the year 1968, a decision was made to convert the inter insurance exchange to the stock. It was the federal government who had minimized the tax for the advantages, and then the California Department of Insurance raised its capital and stock requirements. It was one of the most unique annals in the business of California. The profits that resulted on the use of this exchange were considered for measuring the amount of equity of the policy holders, where were entitled to the new company.$2 million were written on behalf of the company, in the year 1969, and $ 5 million was reached in the year 1972, and then $10 million in the year 1975.The company soon grew, and in a few years the company moved to Century City, in order to accommodate the ever increasing staff and number of policies. This was in the year 1980 that the company moved to its current headquarters, in Woodland hills. 21st Century Insurance has always seen its rapid growth, and expanded to many areas such as Arizonia, Washington, Georgia, Pennsylvania.Today the company is said to be employing more than 2500 employees and occupies a 11 storey headquarters building in Woodland Hills. The company also has 14 service offices, along with 9 drive in claim centers and 5 vehicle inspection centers.

21st Century gave me one rate when I called and talked with them to set up my new policy. I felt it was all figured out. When I received the first bill, it was A LOT different than what had been discussed! Then when I call to talk about this, I got a whole different story!

They don't cover anything and when you call to ask a question they change your policy without asking and refuse to change it back.

After 3 years with 21st century, we noticed that our rates kept going up and up. Each 6 month renewal we'd see our rate go up for no reason. We had 3 vehicles insured. We are males 31 and 45 years old with no accidents, no claims and no traffic tickets.

21st Century charged me 3 times for the same charge! there were overdrafts galore. It took almost three days to return my money, minus the overdraft fees. I was told they will send a check for the overdraft fees, but I'm still waiting to see it.

Considered At-Fault After A NOT At Fault Accident

After 14 years, I recently switched given the horrible quote and treatment I received from them. I was nearly killed in an accident last year by a driver that was found at-fault by 21st Century. I was paid a settlement from 21st Century given that this other motorist was uninsured and I had smartly purchased uninsured motorist coverage. When I go to renew my policy it had nearly doubled. At first they said it was just a standard raise in rates and then after speaking with over 6 different people about this quote I come to find out they put me as the at-fault driver in the accident to figure out my new quote. Since the driver of the other car was uninsured they considered it my fault.

Poor Communication

Do not waste your time allowing this company to insure your house or vehicles. I have been dealing with them every 2 weeks because they have no idea how to communicate. It says policy is updated and accurate then you receive a cancellation notice due to failure of payment since they never sent a notice to the mortgage company. Very poor customer service and severe lack of communication within the company.

Always Looking For Ways to Raise My Rates

I get the feeling that having a safe driving record means less to auto insurers. With a different company, I paid my premium and that's all I heard from them which was fine. After I signed up with 21st Century, all I get is e-mails and requests for information all with the threat that if I don't send it in my "rates may go up." They even tried to put my three oldest kids on policy and they do not live with us anymore and two have own cars and insurance.

Insurance USA , USA 2.5 127.0 197 197 We got a quote from 21st century. It was saving us like 94$ a month. So we set it up over the phone. They took all of our info and bank info. They were to take out the first paymen
