21st Century Insurance Story
The founder of 21st Century Insurance was Louis W.Foster, who founded the company in the year 1958, with the help of his experience of 20 years as an independent agent. An inter-insurance exchange is quite similar to a cooperative, where most of the policyholders try to insure the losses of the other policyholders. It was in the year 1968, a decision was made to convert the inter insurance exchange to the stock. It was the federal government who had minimized the tax for the advantages, and then the California Department of Insurance raised its capital and stock requirements. It was one of the most unique annals in the business of California. The profits that resulted on the use of this exchange were considered for measuring the amount of equity of the policy holders, where were entitled to the new company.$2 million were written on behalf of the company, in the year 1969, and $ 5 million was reached in the year 1972, and then $10 million in the year 1975.The company soon grew, and in a few years the company moved to Century City, in order to accommodate the ever increasing staff and number of policies. This was in the year 1980 that the company moved to its current headquarters, in Woodland hills. 21st Century Insurance has always seen its rapid growth, and expanded to many areas such as Arizonia, Washington, Georgia, Pennsylvania.Today the company is said to be employing more than 2500 employees and occupies a 11 storey headquarters building in Woodland Hills. The company also has 14 service offices, along with 9 drive in claim centers and 5 vehicle inspection centers.
21st Century Insurance In The Community
21st Century Insurance has always been involved with community development, and over 5 years time, the employees had managed to raise $1.8 million towards the United Way Campaigns. In the year 2003, there was $3 million in the form of donation to the Union Rescue Mission. This donation was made on behalf of the company as well as its founder. It was the 1996, that 21 st Century played a major role as a sponsor in order to create Los Angeles Police Academy Magnet School Program. 21st Century Insurance has also joined hands with California Missions Foundation, in order to increase awareness. In the previous poster competition was organized for the students, in which more than 400 students participated. The poster contest was entitled “A Day in the Life of a Mission”. low estimate on damages
My car was broken into a 3 weeks ago. I reported it to the police and to my insurance. It took them a week before responding to my claim. After another 2 weeks of waiting and calling the adjuster, I finally got the verdict. They will only cover up to a thousand dollars on my claim. The problem is the equipment that I have in my car is worth $4,500. Whatever is the excess of the repairs will come from me.
I have been insured with AIG for over 20 years without any accidents... until recently when I got into one on a road that was not clearly marked. It was deemed my fault, since I switched lanes and a car hit me while entering the lane. When my renewal rate came out, my rates when from $430/6 months to $2,000+/6 months.
When I switched to 21st I was paying about $290/6 months. My payments eventually rose to $320. At my fifth year renewal, the premium jumped to $390. I called and they had no explanation.
Great rates if no accidents
I had an excellent driving rating, and got an excellent rate until I had an at-fault 10 MPH accident. No one was injured. My vehicle and the other party's vehicle were repaired quickly and well. The problem is: 21st Century paid $4000 to fix a 4" dent in the other party's vehicle and also blindly accepted the other parties belated medical claims. They did not bother to conduct a investigation despite my protests. So my payments were increased 100% because they preferred to pay whatever the other party claimed rather than due diligence with claims adjustment. I ended up paying for the other party's claims through increased rates.
I am thrilled with 21st Century Insurance! At first, when my husband suggested we switch from Allstate to 21st Century Insurance I was a bit worried about whether or not we would receive the same quality service. Tempted by the low premiums I decided to forego my anxiety and give 21st Century Insurance a try, well, all I can say is that it was the best decision I have ever made. The company is quick to respond to questions, they handled my claim in a time frame I didn't even imagine was humanly possible and I had a check in my hand really quick! I got another car and I have kept the insurance with 21st Century Insurance, definitely a company worth working with. Low rates, fast service, friendly people -that's what I call real customer service. And customer service is something that seems to be diminishing in quality these days so if you find a company like 21st Century Insurance offering good service you should really stick with them!
There are many inexperienced people working with 21st century. I had full coverage from the beginning. After six months, when it was renewed, they switch it to liability only. When I called them about it, they said sorry, but when they add the full coverage my premium became twice. I talked to almost 10 people, but no one was able to explain why my premium went double. 10 People gave me at least 10 different reason for that price change.
I had them for almost four years and every time that I renewed they would raise my rates. When I was in a hit and run accident the insurance company did nothing to help. They told me that I would have to pay for the repairs, or that I would have to go after the other driver's insurance company.
