21st Century Insurance Story
The founder of 21st Century Insurance was Louis W.Foster, who founded the company in the year 1958, with the help of his experience of 20 years as an independent agent. An inter-insurance exchange is quite similar to a cooperative, where most of the policyholders try to insure the losses of the other policyholders. It was in the year 1968, a decision was made to convert the inter insurance exchange to the stock. It was the federal government who had minimized the tax for the advantages, and then the California Department of Insurance raised its capital and stock requirements. It was one of the most unique annals in the business of California. The profits that resulted on the use of this exchange were considered for measuring the amount of equity of the policy holders, where were entitled to the new company.$2 million were written on behalf of the company, in the year 1969, and $ 5 million was reached in the year 1972, and then $10 million in the year 1975.The company soon grew, and in a few years the company moved to Century City, in order to accommodate the ever increasing staff and number of policies. This was in the year 1980 that the company moved to its current headquarters, in Woodland hills. 21st Century Insurance has always seen its rapid growth, and expanded to many areas such as Arizonia, Washington, Georgia, Pennsylvania.Today the company is said to be employing more than 2500 employees and occupies a 11 storey headquarters building in Woodland Hills. The company also has 14 service offices, along with 9 drive in claim centers and 5 vehicle inspection centers.

In the 2 years that we have had 21st century, we have had no accidents, infractions, or claims of any kind. Meanwhile, with each renewal, they have raised the rate by, on average, 20% per renewal. With the most recent renewal, a letter of "Adverse Underwriting Situation" was included. They stated that this was based upon the credit report they received for me from Transunion.
I had my tires and rims stolen. It's been weeks and I still don't have a check to cover the cost.
With one month left on my insurance fully paid, I switched to another insurance company. Even after sending the cancellation notice to AIG, they failed to cancel my policy. I called them many times only to have the policy RENEWED without my permission. I called to cancel that to no avail. They charged me $150 on the new policy which I refused to pay as I was already covered under another insurance for TWO months. After many contacts, they still did not cancel my policy. A few months later, I receive a letter from Vital Recovery Services, a collection agency wanting to collect this money that I have never owed them.
68% Higher Than Current
21st Century solicited me for a quote stating that I could save more than I was currently paying. For a policy with exact same coverage as my current policy, the quote was 68% higher.
I was in the market for some low cost insurance - I already have an existing policy and was looking to see if I could get cheaper rates. I know that my credit rating is ideal and that because I have always been a cautious driver I should have had little difficulty getting desirable rates. What my search delivered was completely undesirable customer service: 21st Century representatives are amazingly discourteous and disrespectful! When I called 21st Century the reps acted as if it was a big hassle to answer my questions; it was like I interrupted their lunch or something. Definitely going with another company!
Very Helpful Reviews from all ...
I recently received a letter from 21st century claiming to provide better rates than my current compnay and amazingly, my quote was far less than what I pay now. It's a good thing that I googled and found this website with reviews about 21st Century. My current company had handled claims and other things so well that I cannot complain. I wasn't thinking to switch in the first place and I won't. Its always good to have a better insurance company than having headaches saving some money.
No matter what I have needed from 21st Century insurance, I have no problem getting it. I can call a rep and get the changes to a policy that I need to. There's no fuss, no hassle and lifestyle changes alter the cost of my policy but little. I have had to file claims in the past and while, not necessarily a fun process, it is done as professionally and as efficiently as such a process can be handled. I have worked with different insurance carriers in the past - all of which have met to my dissatisfaction at some point. I am happy to say that 21st Century is the first company to meet my high demands.
My family has relied on 21st Century for many years because their service is unbeatable. My daughter is on our policy and when she had her first mishap we were sure that the insurance company was going to hurt us financially. Not so -- we got paid the blue book value for the used car she was driving when it was totaled and our premiums did not incur the predictable increase many other insured drivers incur when with other companies. Plus, our insurance policy is broken down into a total of eight payments a year - making our payment expectations smaller and easier to manage.
Good Service Overall
The length of time that I have been a customer of 21st Century insurance should really speak for itself. I am one of those customers that won't remain loyal unless the service is truly great. To gain my loyalties for twenty-three years is really an accomplishment. If I needed a claim processed, I never faced any troubles, and my account is also nicely handled. Proper customer care is delivered by 21st Century insurance and I am big on companies that know how to treat customers right. In the last two and a half decades it never once crossed my mind to change insurance carriers.
No Customer Service
The claims reps are almost never available to speak with. They don't return voice messages. It makes me wonder if anyone is actually sitting in the office. Poor turnaround time when it comes to settling a claim.
