CHICAGO, Feb 6, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Unitrin, Inc. (NYSE:UTR) announced today that it has expanded its board of directors to ten members and has appointed two Unitrin executives, Donald G. Southwell and Eric J. Draut, to fill the vacancies on the board created by the expansion. In related actions, Unitrin designated Mr. Southwell, previously a Senior Vice President, as its President and Chief Operating Officer and also named Mr. Draut as an Executive Vice President. Richard C. Vie, who previously held the office of President, remains the Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Draut retains his position as Chief Financial Officer.
Unitrin also announced that Scott Renwick, Unitrin’s General Counsel and Secretary, has been designated a Senior Vice President, while retaining his current roles. John M. Boschelli, previously Unitrin’s Assistant Treasurer, has been named Treasurer, a position until now held by Mr. Draut.
Unitrin’s subsidiaries are engaged in three businesses: property and casualty insurance, life and health insurance and consumer finance.
