Esurance Saves More Green in San Francisco, Chicago, & Tampa

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — August 29, 2005 — Esurance, the direct-to-consumer auto insurance company, announced its latest round of initiatives to help citizens of San Francisco, Chicago, and Tampa really “save some green.”

In San Francisco, Esurance has an ongoing partnership with Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF), a non-profit organization that has planted nearly half the street trees in San Francisco. Esurance recently showcased FUF at a “save some green” event. The event, which was staffed by Esurance volunteers and featured Esurance’s hybrid claims vehicle, helped build awareness of FUF while also raising some additional funds for the organization. Kelly Quirke, Executive Director of Friends of the Urban Forest, stated, “Esurance is a great partner, enthusiastically working on our behalf. With our city’s government facing some tough financial issues, it is vital for organizations like ours to diversify funding sources. Esurance has also recently launched its relationship with Chicago Gateway Green, a non-profit organization dedicated to the beautification of the Chicago area. Through the organization’s Expressway Partnership program, Esurance has sponsored improvements for the outbound Bryn Mawr exit, off the Kennedy Expressway. Bill Bracken, Chicago Gateway Green’s Executive Director, explained, “Through our Expressway Partnership program, we implement long-term landscaping plans and carry out ongoing maintenance and cleanup, enhancing the quality of life in our communities. However, by greening roadside areas, we also help reduce the effects of car emissions on surrounding environments. In Tampa, Esurance has also recently started working with the Tampa Bay Reforestation and Environmental Effort, Inc. (T.R.E.E. Inc.) Esurance’s first event with T.R.E.E. Inc. will consist of a tree planting in St. Pete Beach, Florida on September 24. Nine varieties of native trees will be planted at six parks throughout St. Pete Beach. William Moriaty, President of T.R.E.E., stated, “Our organization has planted over 43,000 native trees since we started our work in 1983. This would have been impossible without the cooperation of state and local governments, without our dedicated volunteers, and without donations. That’s why we are always happy to establish new relationships with companies like Esurance.”
