American Family Insurance donates towels for Arizona wildfire victims

Flagstaff, Ariz. (June 28, 2002) – American Family Insurance is donating 2,700 bath towels and 3,000 washcloths to the American Red Cross for those evacuated or affected by the Arizona wildfires. The badly needed items are being shipped today from Wisconsin and will arrive in Snowflake, Ariz., for distribution on Saturday afternoon.

A team of American Family claims personnel has been in Arizona this week, visiting and assisting policyholders at emergency shelters. Evacuees and Red Cross personnel identified the urgent need for the towels on Friday. American Family Insurance, headquartered in Madison, Wis., found a Wisconsin vendor that had a supply on hand to meet the Red Cross’s needs.

American Family is Arizona’s fourth largest home insurer. So far, American Family has received 200 claims related to the wildfires in Arizona. Of those, 14 are homes that have been destroyed. Other claims are expected to involve partial losses, although the losses won’t be known for certain until adjusters can return to the fire area to inspect the damage.

Policyholders can report their claims by contacting their agent or American Family’s 24-hour Claim Call Center at 1-800-374-1111.
