STFC is Mergent Dividend Achiever for 2005

For the third consecutive year, State Auto Financial Corporation (STFC) (Nasdaq:STFC) has been named a Mergent Dividend Achiever by Mergent, Inc., a Charlotte, N.C.-based provider of business and financial information. STFC also earned this honor in 2003 and 2004.

According to Mergent, “this designation means that STFC is part of an elite group of companies that consistently deliver dividend increases to their shareholders, year in and year out, for at least the last 10 years or longer.”

In 2003, 2.5% of the eligible companies qualified for the Mergent award. In 2004, the percentage was even smaller. Only 314 of the 15,000 U.S. publicly listed companies, or 2.1%, met the stringent criteria required to be a Dividend Achiever.
