SafeAuto Insurance Company has announced plans to open the Pulaski County Call Center, a new call and data center located in Somerset, KY. SafeAuto, which provides drivers with state-required minimum insurance coverage, says the expansion will create more than 260 new jobs for the town of Somerset and expand business for the Columbus, Ohio-based company.
The Pulaski County Call Center will expand SafeAuto’s sales and customer service capacity nationwide while creating an expected 263 new, full-time jobs over the next several years. SafeAuto will begin interviewing the week of June 16 for positions including sales agents, customer service representatives, managers, human resources staff and trainers. This will make the fourth center of its kind for SafeAuto. Additional call centers are located in Columbus, Ohio; Woodsfield, Ohio; and Hemingway, South Carolina.
“We are delighted that Somerset will be the fourth call center to support SafeAuto’s continued growth,” said Jon P. Diamond, president of SafeAuto. “We look forward to welcoming the hard working people of Somerset to our team of caring professionals who daily are providing minimum limit auto insurance to a growing number of states across America. The Governor’s office and state development staff have been very effective in showcasing this beautiful part of Kentucky and we look forward to becoming a productive business partner here.”
The Pulaski County Call Center is scheduled to open in late August and hiring will begin around July 7, 2008. SafeAuto anticipates an initial hiring of between 35 and 40 people. Applications for these positions can be found through the Cumberland’s Workforce Network Somerset Career Center (http://lcadd.org/cumberlandsworkforce).
The decision to locate in Somerset was in part thanks to collaboration between the Governor’s office, the Cabinet for Economic Development and SafeAuto Insurance Company as part of the Kentucky Jobs Development Act (KJDA), enacted to expand service- and technology-based employment in the state. The Pulaski County Call Center is the first project in the area to benefit from a recent legislative amendment to the KJDA administered by the Cabinet for Economic Development.
The Pulaski County Call Center will be located in the Enterprise Center Building, in the Valley Oak Business and Technology Park. SafeAuto also intends to build a 24,000 square-foot call and data center on the grounds of the Technology Park within two years.
