Mid-Continent Casualty Company, a member of the Great American Insurance Group, announced that H. Michael (“Mike”) Coon was named President and Chief Operating Officer the Company, succeeding Jim Pierce, who was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until the time of Mr. Pierce’s retirement in December 2010. Mr. Coon has 37 years experience in the insurance industry. He joined Mid-Continent in 1991, most recently serving as Executive Vice President. Before coming to Mid-Continent, Mr. Coon worked as an underwriting manager with INA/Cigna in Dallas, Texas, and with Crum & Forster in San Antonio. Mr. Coon is a graduate of the University of Texas.
