I was driving my finances car home because he knew he was too tired to drive. A car hit us in your typical hit and run. I immediately called the police and esurance to start the claim so all the details would be fresh. The following day the lady assigned to my case was obnoxious. And I was just referred to an orthopedic doctor for my back and am also out of work and have 5 children to support. Then we were also told she would call us back in about an hour. We left her numerous messages on top of the times we didn't leave messages. Got operator to put us through and so forth. That was 3 days ago and still haven't heard from her.
Allstate Ruined This Company
I had Esurance for multiple years and everything was fine. Good price, and I was lucky enough to not have an accident or a ticket, so I never really dealt with a claim. But when Allstate got involved with them, my policy nearly doubled in cost. I was paying around $90/month and it went up to $160!! Absolutely no reason why. But, I had Allstate BEFORE Esurance and I left them for their ridiculous prices, so I blame them for ruining Esurance. Allstate sucks.
Excellent Claims Experience
When I was rear-ended a few weeks ago by an uninsured motorist, Esurance gave me the name of a body shop that seriously underestimated repairs to my car. I then went to a better shop that quoted for all the needed repairs, and Esurance paid me within two days of getting the higher quote, for the full amount, with no hesitation.
I am now dealing with the bodily injury adjuster for my claim. I don't have a settlement yet, (so I may be back to complain--I hope not). The personal injury adjuster has been very pleasant and all of my calls and emails to the adjusters have been answered quickly and professionally.
There was one Esurance adjuster I spoke to who was rude and who led me to believe that Esurance would not pay for a rental car or pain and suffering (not true). I mentioned this to another adjuster, and the first one was suddenly pleasant and straightforward the next time we spoke.
Overall, in more than four years of being an Esurance customer, I'd say they are one of the best companies of any kind that I have worked with.
Very Expensive Quote
I just got a quote from Esurance. I have not had any violations or accidents since 1982. I was quoted $200/month! Presently I am paying $1,400/year for my insurance from Safeco.

I don't Have A Car, They Want Me To Pay
I was a customer for less than two years ago, then I sold my car. Why on earth would I need insurance when I don't have a car right? Esurance charges me $100 for not having insurance on a car I don't own. This has to be illegal? I'm taking this as far as I can. Second, I go to cancel my policy, less than 12 hours later, and they want to charge me $50, I was told I could cancel in 6 months for no fee. Really? I just shelled out over $600. Third, my "quote" was $70. I signed up, paid, then receive a raise in my premium notification, letting me know my monthly had increased to $120 which attributed to a DMV issue that they can't even tell me.
Difficult And Lengthy Quotes Process
I was shopping for insurance. I spent a lot of time on the phone with a rep and she said she would email me the quote, rather than just tell me the price right then. When I opened my email, rather than finding a one page, easy to read email, I was accosted with a barrage of additional links, and complex hurdles that required additional input, and even more effort than I am now putting into this complaint. I still do not know the many dollars that I could have saved, neither do I care any longer!
Paying More Because I Drive To NYC
I have lived in Pennsylvania and I sublet a basement apartment with my aunt for over 9 years now. I have had insurance on all of my vehicles for over 8 years at the same address. Esurance has been my automobile company on and off for several years now. In the past, I was asked to provide proof of residency. I gave documents supporting my residence to Esurance from my landlord and I have also provided bank statements showing transactions in Pennsylvania. At the time of establishing my policy, Esurance made it a point to ask if I frequented NYC/NJ on a regular basis and I advised I did. This caused me to pay a higher premium.
Statewide Increase and One Accident
I have had one accident in my entire life and this company has doubled my insurance premiums as a result. I have never experienced this before. I work for a living, but with the increase in the rates I can no longer afford to drive to work to make a living and feed my kids. My premiums are incredibly high to begin with. My roommate who didn't get his license until he was in his 40's because of repeated suspensions for driving without insurance has lower rates and he has to file an sr-22. I have paid my dues for my whole life and I get screwed like this from a company that I have been with for a year.
High Rate Increases
My rates were increased more than anybody can afford a year, especially the a veteran like me who depends on social security payments for my retirement. My yearly cost went up from $920 to $1,163. It says they do not have to inform the client until 45 days out of renewal. I think it should be 6 months out so we have more time to either fine the money or find a lower quote!
