The National Association for Female Executives names Allstate one of the Nations Best Companies for Executive Women

NORTHBROOK, IL, February 13, 2002 –The National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) named Allstate Insurance Company a Top 25 company for executive women. This is the fourth year Allstate is recognized as one of the nation’s top companies offering the best leadership opportunities to women. Allstate is one of two Illinois-based companies recognized with the honor.

“When companies conscientiously transform their environments so women can succeed, they deserve recognition,” said Dr. Betty C. Spence, president of NAFE.

To make the “Top 25” list, a Fortune 1000 company must have at least two women on the board of directors, a high proportion of women at all levels, and a steadily increasing percentage of women in senior management. It earns points for women CEOs, top earners, and line managers — those with profit-and-loss responsibility.

Approximately 61% of Allstate’s total workforces and 41% of Allstate’s officials and managers are women.

NAFE also considered Allstate’s ability to measure women’s progress and hold managers accountable, particularly with financial incentives. Equally important are the Allstate programs that groom women for upper management, mentoring initiatives, networking, flexible work arrangements and child-care benefits.
