AARP is very pleased that the FTC will now have a national “Do Not Call” registry that will benefit Americans who want greater protection from unwanted telephone solicitations.
These solicitations are a nuisance to millions of Americans who want more privacy in their homes. To help stop unwanted calls, AARP actively fought for and helped pass “Do Not Call” legislation in many states.
This national registry will help curb the amount of annoying callers. Most importantly, this effort will put control of the telephone back where it belongs — with the consumer.
Working with the FTC, AARP fought for this national legislation and will continue to advocate for state laws that complement the federal rule in scope and jurisdiction and can help oversee and enforce the national registry.
