Never Mind the News, Some Companies Are Hiring

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — December 9, 2003 — In spite of cautiously optimistic reports about the economy and residual gloomy forecasts about joblessness nationwide, many companies across the U.S. are actually doing well, and are, in fact, seeking to fill positions. Esurance, a direct-to-consumer auto insurance company, is one such enterprise, and is currently seeking applicants for a variety of positions in all of its locations.

The company’s staffing needs support the Department of Labor’s findings in its Occupational Outlook Handbook 2002-2003. In this handbook, the Department of Labor projects that the insurance sector is expected to add 152,000 new jobs to the economy by 2010. When asked for his thoughts about this statistic, Gary Tolman, Esurance President and CEO, was not surprised. Tolman explained, “Insurance is always a great industry for job applicants. It’s something that people need, and something they have to buy, so in terms of job opportunities, it’s more recession-proof than other sectors of the economy. Because insurance is going high tech now, there’s a greater variety of positions open at insurance companies than ever before.”

Tolman continued, “As a company, 2003 has been a great year for Esurance, and we plan to continue our strong growth in 2004. Of course, that means we need to hire some more people, particularly as we continue to expand our regional claims offices in Tampa, Florida and Dallas, Texas. Obviously, I’m quite happy just because we’re doing well, but it’s also nice that we’re able to provide jobs to talented people.”

Esurance is currently looking for additional claims personnel to join its claims team in the company’s recently opened Tampa and Dallas regional claims offices. In both locations, the company has openings for claims management positions, claims adjusters, and claims assistants. Esurance’s Sacramento, California office also has openings for claims adjusters and claims assistants, along with auto insurance product manager and ratings analyst positions.

At Esurance’s San Francisco-based corporate headquarters, the company is currently seeking applicants for a variety of positions, including software engineers, actuarial analysts, marketers, and corporate support staff. The company’s service center located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota also seeks experienced customer service representatives.
