Amicas Insurance Raises $1,947 for Make-A-Wish

Providence, RI – Amica Insurance is donating $1,947 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Rhode Island, an organization that has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. Since 1991, the organization’s Rhode Island chapter has granted more than 780 wishes in the state.

Amica’s Carnevale at WaterFire Providence was conducted on Saturday, July 29, and Amica Insurance was the Lead Fire sponsor. The event was a fun-filled night where Providence’s Venetian aura took on a whole new meaning as young and old created their own masks at Amica’s Mask Decorating Tent or bought masks for $3 each to benefit Make-A-Wish. WaterFire attendees donned these masks and paraded through WaterFire enjoying the feel of old world Venice, Italy.

Carnevale in Venice, Italy is an annual festival. Centuries ago, it is said, the government in Venice allowed residents to wear masks, creating an atmosphere in which nobles and ordinary people could mix and socialize while temporarily eliminating differences in social classes.

“Amica Insurance feels strongly about giving back to our communities, especially here in our home state of Rhode Island,” explains Jennifer Swanson of Amica. “These Make-A-Wish children deserve as much as we can give them, and we are excited that we were able to help contribute to making a child’s wish come true. Two Make-A-Wish families even had the opportunity to ride the gondolas along the scenic Providence River during the July 29 WaterFire.”

“As we celebrate our 15th year in the state, our Foundation is grateful for the continued support of companies like Amica, which have shown their dedication to our mission through wonderful fundraisers like this.
