Palisades Safety and Insurance Management Corporation, a leader in New Jersey private passenger automobile insurance, announced today that Ed Fernandez has assumed the role of president and CEO, effective immediately. Fernandez succeeds Gerry Wilson, who will continue to serve the company as co-chairman of the board, along with Hal Belodoff.
“Ed Fernandez’ experience and proven leadership will be a great asset to Palisades,” said Wilson. “We are delighted to have recruited such talent and expect him to complement the rest of the management team nicely.”
Fernandez joins Palisades after 19 years with Chubb. His most recent position was chief field officer for Chubb Personal Insurance, where he developed a track record for profitable growth and as a strong supporter of the independent agency system. Prior to Chubb, Fernandez spent 12 years with Crum & Forster. Throughout his career he has worked in many areas of property/casualty insurance, including underwriting, claims, operations, finance, and general management. He is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickenson University, Pace University (MBA), and holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
“I am proud to join Palisades at such an exiting time in its history,” said Fernandez. “Palisades is New Jersey’s most innovative auto insurer, providing exceptional customer service to both agents and customers. I am pleased to be joining the staff who built such a great company, and look forward to contributing to profitable growth and general success of the business.
“Palisades agents have been a key partner in the success of the company,” he added. “I’m also looking forward to working with this group of agents, some of whom I’ve known for many years.”
