Terrible customer serviceEndless phone loops to get a human being who can actually semi-answer your question. Two of the worst experiences with UHC. Last year UHC informed us that they would not longer cover my son's genotropin. The UHC Pharmacist did not agree with the conclusive test results, nor the Chief of Pediatric Endocrinology at the prestigious hospital in our area. They gave us exactly two weeks to respond. We went through a lengthy appeals process. They did not pay for my son's medication even though it was listed a "covered" medication on their website during this entire process. We won the final appeal. We received one delivery of the medication followed by a letter that stated that UHC would not longer cover this medication. They also nicely added this zinger "we hope this does not inconvenience you." Our second bad experience. For 3 months they declined all of our family's claims. We got a bunch of bills all at once. The UHC rep that finally tracked down why said it was because they had identified another source of health coverage for us. Nope, we do not have any other source of health insurance coverage. We got it straightened out after many hours on the phone, it was identified as a "system glitch". Had UHC sent me a letter 3 months earlier this could have been resolved with a lot less drama. These are only two examples. During our 7 years with UHC they have had no less than 10 "system glitches" that have cost us hours of stress and time.
