Avoid Unicare!

Unicare is the worst insurance company I have ever used, and I would advise others to find their insurance elsewhere. This company denied most of my claims for the medical costs associated with my diagnosis and treatment for cancer. For one thing, they denied most of my surgery because I was treated in an outpatient facility, which I find rediculous since such treatment is almost always less expensive and therefore should be used whenever possible. In addition, the company refused to pay for a biopsy because they stated that my "super saver" policy only covered $300 for all labwork. Finally, their customer service was worthless. Not only did they give me the run-around when I called to find out why my claims were being denied, but they also failed to forward the hospital/lab costs onto me until a full year after treatment; and this resulted in my inability to include all of my 2007 medical costs onto a single year's tax return..
