Thanks for nothing, USAA

My husband used to tell all his military and ex-military friends how great USAA was. We have been a customer for over 25 years. Last week my little Civic was hit by a truck; the other driver was 100% at fault, and I claimed it on my insurance rather than theirs, as I was told the only difference is it would be settled quicker. I had a very difficult time getting through to anyone at USAA on the phone from the get-go. Finally, USAA said it was a total loss and offered me $1,592. I decided to see what the other driver's insurance, State Farm, would offer. They said it was NOWHERE NEAR a total loss as the value of the car was $4,200, and it is now getting repaired. With two kids in college and only one income at present, the thought of a bigger car payment sent my head spinning. Hmm...what is the number of the local State Farm agent??
