State Farm - Irresponsible and Frustrating

The measure of an insurance company is how well they take care of injured parties in a loss situation. That is their job. That is what they are paid for.

That being said, State Farm does not measure up.

I was rear-ended by a State Farm Insured driver and State Farm accepted 100% of the responsibility for the accident. My injuries include a herniated disc in my cervical spine and I am under the order of an orthopedic surgeon not to lift more than 5 pounds.

Unfortunately I was in the midst of putting in stairs, walkways and a paved patio at my home at the time of the accident.

I had to wait six weeks for State Farm to come back and tell me that they would not reimburse me to hire someone else to finish the installation, as their position is that I should be able to install my own pavers, in spite of the injury and doctor-ordered wight limit. (When I pushed back, they offered me less than 20% of what it will cost to have the work finished).

State Farm's position is irresponsible and in no way makes me whole. I would advise anyone who pays insurance with the expectation that their company will be there to cover damages when they occur to shop elsewhere.
