Nationwide insurance was founded in 1925 when the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation incorporated Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. Nationwide insurance started with 100 policyholders. Automobile insurance was the first product developed by the company. In 1955, the company changed its name to Nationwide Insurance.
