Why was I paying American Family for the past 28 years?Ok, I have been with amernican since 1979 with the exception of about 4 years in the late 90's. Never had a claim but now we had a car that started on fire due to electrical problems. If you look on Kelly Blue Book that car is worth $11,200 for dealer value and $9,200 private party. They are going to give him $8,350? THen when we asked for the new tires back that were only two weeks old, they told us we could not have them, even though we were told that he could have what ever he wanted out of the car after they looked ot over to determine the cause of the fire. Finally the guy did say we could have the tires back, but we would have to get a different set, put them back onto the rims and make sure that the tires are rotated and balanced???????? WHY? The car is burnt beyond repair, make me wonder if one of the claims people decided that they want to take these tires after the claim is closed. Seems kind of fishy to me! Not to mention even though I had been a member for a very long time, and that I still own $10,000 on the car. You think they could at least pay me what the car is really worth. My opinion of American Family aftter what I have been through is: PLEASE AVOID THE HASSEL AND LOOK ELSE WHERE FOR AN INSURANCE COMPANY WHO IS NOT ONLY THERE FOR COLLECTING PREMIUMS, BUT ALSO AN INSURANCE COMPANY WHO IS GOING OT BE THERE WHEN IT IS TIME FOR A CLAIM!
