Customer Review - Allstate

You need a good Agent!

I have read nearly every review on this board, and generally wouldn't find the desire to comment. I find it important to state a few things.

1. Allstate is very clear in their coverages and limitations, it is your responsibility as the consumer to ensure you have the coverage you need and how it will work when you need it.

2. Allstate has many many agents nationwide, there are some awesome agents and there are some that ruin Allstate's name. A good agent will remember you when you call or stop by their office, they treat you as a person not as a policy number. A good agent will remind you of policy renewals, explain why (if any) premium changes have occurred, some agents will give you their cell # in case of emergency, all agents should be available through email and should provide that information to you, and what I have found most important when you have a claim a good Agent will put the claim in for you, be your liaison between the corporate end of things and hold your hand until the process is complete and you are completely satisfied. I have an AMAZING agent that does all of these things and it seems that if you don't have that, this is where all these complaints are coming from.

3. I also see a lot of posts where there is a huge misconception of the purpose of insurance..it is to make whole not to make BETTER than what you had before.

4. Lastly, rates are a huge driver in the economy we face, and insurance isn't like your power company (no option), there are literally hundreds of companies that would love to take in your premium. My suggestion, shop what you have, find an AGENT (not a 1-800 #) that you LIKE, build a relationship and when you are comfortable switch to that agent. Don't ever feel pressured to buy insurance in 15 min or even in one conversation. Anyone that asks for the sale before really understanding your need, is looking to make a buck, not to protect you.
