The premium scamI got a call from a person who said they represented our local Allstate agent. He said that they had new coverages and premium rates they were rolling out to "Preferred" customers. I gave him the information about my driving record and the new vehicle. He gave me a rate that was $45 cheaper per month than my Progressive coverage. I got a letter today from them telling me that was not eligible for coverage due to my "Poor" credit rating according to some company called "Choice Point". I called the number provided and was told that I misrepresented my credit rating (Understand I just bought and financed a new car) and that my history showed several collection accounts over the past 5 years. When I explained about the divorce and the fact that everything was paid and no longer an issue. I was told that my credit history dictated that they cancel my policy in 10 days! I am back with Progressive but had to pay a higher rate because I lost my longevity discount. Allstate and their agency Choice Point company are a scam/ripoff. Do not fall for this "Cheaper Rate" scam.
