Aetna - Avoid them, nightmare, aetna sucks

This is a horrible horrible insurance company. I'm a federal employee and have one of Aetna's plans. These clowns tell you they're going to cover something. Right now, I'm sitting on several bills totaling over 5 thousand dollars because of Aetna.

They send you documentation saying that something will be covered, and then they don't honor it. Another example is that my baby daughter needs special food to survive. In their coverage details they say that this food is covered. In fact it's one of the major reasons we picked them. However, when the hospital bills them for this special food they reject the claims. The hospital even told us that Aetna does this all the time (ie. not paying for this special food so that children can survive), that they are famous for it in fact. If you're looking for insurance for yourself AVOID AETNA. Another example is that Aetna told us an important test would be covered. Now we're sitting on a multi-thousand dollar bill because guess what - they didn't cover it! A last example is that Aetna pre-approved some medical equipment for my daughter. When the bill finally came, Aetna REJECTED it. Now ***WE*** have to pay for it in spite of the fact that they PRE-APPROVED the equipment. If you're an HR person and give a hoot about your employees being able to focus on their work and not on their personal problems with their health insurance then I strongly suggest you avoid this farce of a company. Aetna is horrible. A horrible disgrace.
