For Fortune's corporate reputation index, 10,000 respondents -- executives, directors and veteran securities analysts -- around the world were polled. According to Fortune, the Most Admired list is "the definitive report card on corporate reputations."
The National Business Coalition on Health recognized Aetna with an eValue8â„¢ Innovation Award (November 2005) for outreach work to support physicians treating Hispanic/Latino people with diabetes. Aetna earned the 2006 Large/Affiliated Innovation and Excellence Award: Chronic Care for its integrated approach to helping members with diabetes manage their condition. The Innovation and Excellence awards are bestowed by America's Health Insurance Plans Foundation.
Aetna has been named to Training magazine's 2005 Top 100 Training Companies list. Aetna ranked 42nd on the list, which recognizes companies that make a commitment to the development of their people, tie training to business objectives, and measure for return on investment and business impact.
The 2004 HERA Award, given annually by America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, was bestowed on Aetna's Adolescent Immunization Program for advancing quality in children's health and for outreach to diverse populations.
The "Stevie" award for "Best Business Turnaround" was presented to Aetna as part of the 2004 American Business Awards competition. The awards recognize outstanding leadership, innovation, perseverance, creativity, teamwork and integrity in business.
Business Ethics, a national organization that "promotes ethical business practices," ranked Aetna 28th on its fifth annual "100 Best Corporate Citizens" list. Aetna is the highest ranked health insurer in the 2004 rankings.
Aetna won the 2003 Best Disease Management Program in Managed Care award from the Disease Management Association of America for its Healthy Outlook, Caring for Chronic Heart Failure program.

Black Enterprise named Aetna CEO and President Ronald A. Williams its 2006 Corporate Executive of the Year for his "exemplary leadership qualities" and role in Aetna's "spectacular corporate turnaround."
Black Enterprise has named Aetna to its 2006 list of "best companies for diversity." Aetna, the only national health plan to receive this recognition, was selected from among more than 1,000 of the country's largest publicly traded companies and more than 50 leading global companies with significant U.S. operations.
