AIG Stuck Me with the Bill

I went with AIG when I got a good quote but I made a mistake: a really bad judgment call. I had decided to make my payments with my checking account electronically but it was a one time payment thing only. Usually I just mail the check in. Anyway, after doing so I was surprised that my insurance payment was taken right out of my account without my consent the next month when a payment rolled around. It wouldn't have been a big deal if I knew that was going to happen, but as it was it caused other checks to start bouncing and I was stuck paying all the fees and charges!!! It's a monstrous mess! I can't believe AIG insurance can do that with my consent! I thought companies had to have a customer's consent to take payments out of checking accounts - apparently I thought wrong and it cost me a great deal.
