Your personal property claim in their punchline

We were in Costa Rica when the house we rented was broken into and all our belongings were stolen. I called and left voice message with AAA agent. He sent me email telling me he wasn't permitted to call outside the U.S. even though their policy says coverage is provided: "personal property owned, worn or used by an insured anywhere in the world." Kind of rings hollow when they can't place an international call from their offices !!

When we finally got an adjuster assigned, she said she would resolve our claim and then left for a month vacation without telling anyone in the office! Since then we have been trying to get an explanation of how their proposed settlement was arrived at, but they still have not sent us documentation a month later.

Stay away from AAA Texas Homeowner coverage. Unlike their roadside service for your car, their homeowner insurance is a bad joke and you are the punchline.
