It looks like routine service

My daughter's Volks Passat had been sitting in my drive for three days, when she went to start her car it would not start. She came in the house and told me she thought her battery was dead. We went back out and tried to start the car again at which time I noticed smoke coming from under the hood. I had the car towed to a garage where they replaced the battery but it still would not start. Upon further diagnostic testing the mechanic found the ECM fuse blown and the fuse to the radio blown. AAA denied any liability because they stated it was routine maintenance. I understand a dead battery needs replacing at my experience, but I have never known a low or dead battery to blow fuses simply by trying to start the car. If this is the case then all cars should not try to start with low batteries. I have been involved with machanic work for most of my life and have never experienced major fuses shorting out or smoke coming from under the hood of a car because of a low or dead battery. AAA has decided that this is routine maintenance and bears no responsibility to help pay for the damages to my car, therefore I will exercise my right to do business with another insurance company. I hate to think what AAA might say if I file a claim on my homeowners insurance. Fire or storm damage might just be routine maintenance. So, I will move my three vehicles and my house insurance to another company. I wish I could say that it has been a pleasure doing business but it has not. Please do not take this personal it's just routine maintenance.
